More than 700 attendees were present as Flynn & Friends president Mitch Flynn was honored at the 8th annual Leadership Buffalo Values Awards luncheon held at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
Flynn was presented with the “Openness To Change” award for his work in business and the community, including his leadership role as the founder of The Ride For Roswell. The award was one of five given at the luncheon, each award representing one of Leadership Buffalo’s core values.
The Openness To Change award criteria included:
- Demonstrates and encourages a willingness to try alternative approaches to current practice
- Takes risks personally and professionally that support service, inclusion, and diversity
- Supports and employs non traditional solutions while faced with significant opposition
- Achieves effective resolution when working through resistance to change
- Is not restrained by status quo, nor pursues change for the sake of change
Other honorees included Ann McCarthy, of Wegmans Food Markets, Service Award; Dr. Khalid Qazi, President of the Muslim Public Affairs Council, Diversity Award; Danis Gehl and Scott Gehl, Inclusion Award: and Anthony Conte, of Shea’s Performing Arts Center, Community Impact Award.
Flynn is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Buffalo and a past member of its board of directors.
