2015 News > Foster Family Fair attracts more than 100 potential recruits
February 14, 2015

Buffalo, NY – Flynn & Friends worked with the Erie County Department of Social Services and more than a dozen local social services agencies to create a first-time "Foster Family Fair" held at Canisius College on Valentine's Day 2015.
"We built the event and concept around Valentine's Day because it's 'the day of love,'" said agency president Mitch Flynn. "On top of that, it made it an easy way to remember the date, and this year, it conveniently fell on a Saturday, the ideal day for the fair."
The media strategy for the event incuded outdoor, radio, television, and print, the latter in community newspapers. Heart-shaped Valentine's candies with relevant messaging helped complete the creative picture.
Social services agencies including Child and Family Services, Gateway-Longview, Catholic Charities, Baker Victory Services and 8 others set up tables and banners and met attendees. Speakers at the Fair included Canisius College president John Hurley and his wife Maureeen, foster parents who went on to adopt their child.
